摘要

Spontaneous ignition of an isolated fuel droplet at high pressure was experimentally studied. The experiments wereperformed in microgravity condition in order to eliminate buoyancy effect so that the results obtained with large dropletscould be compared to fine droplets. First, palm methyl ester (PME) was used. Ignition delay decreased with increasingpressure or increasing ambient temperature. Ignition delay of PME was longer than that of light oil. Next, temperaturenear the droplet was measured by thermocouples for an n-decane droplet. Cool flame was detected before ignition(hot-flame appearance). Typical value of the highest obtained temperature of cool flame was around 800 K at 0.3 MPa.
