Observing the ongoingclimate change in the world and understanding its potential impacts toour human life including the nature are strong enough to boost up our efforts for CO2 reduction.There have been found and reported a wide range of CO2 emission across the world, includingnatural and anthropogenic sources. Among various anthropogenic emission sources, those inlandemissions have been quite well tackled for evaluation and management, whereas other sources inthe atmosphere and ocean are still required to review and count. IMO (International MaritimeOrganization) has been emphasized the impact to the climate change and lead the efforts foreffective management. Recently Korean government is also initiating many efforts to cope withthe contribution of marine CO2 emission.In Korea, it is reported that the CO2 emission from offroadengines, including marine vessels,airplanes, construction equipments, trains, occupies a significant portion. It subsequently requireseffective control measures based on accurate source estimation, which also needs to be based onthe statistics of local CO2 emission, emission characteristics including their activity information.In case of small or midsizeships, there exists more inaccuracy issues raised compared to otherlargesizevessels. It may be caused due to a large number of manufactures for small or midsizeships.In this study, the general information of CO2 emission, based on Tier 1, is reviewed whileconsidering the characteristics of large, mid, and small size ships. In this presentation, the recentupdates including the emission characteristics, the strategy for source inventory, the impact ofsmall and mid size, etc. Will be reported.
