Ghana is one of the most politically and economically stable and fastest growing democracies in West Africa with a stated goal of becoming a middle income level country by 2015. It is a populous country with good basic infrastructure but a severe shortage of electricity. The government is strongly encouraging private investment in the energy sector and in renewable energy in particular. While not generally a windy country, Ghana has been shown to have some promising wind resources, especially along its long shoreline. GPCo has been active in Ghana since 2006 studying the market, prospecting sites and laying the groundwork for future wind projects.
