Web Based Maintenance Management of Infrastructure

Through two specific cases it is demonstrated how the web based maintenance management systemSMART supports a systematic, well organised and documented maintenance management,providing overview on planning level and practical tools on implementation level.The national infrastructure administration of the Faeroes uses SMART for the management ofbridges and tunnels, and it is decided to include several other asset types in the same installation.Distributed user rights ensure that the individual persons can only see and edit data on the assetsthey are related to, while the superior management can draw information from all assets together.SMART has been used as a reporting tool for inspection of two major bridges of the Finnish RoadAdministration. The recommended actions are reported in SMART. Thereby long-term budgets canbe generated, the activities can be ranked and the execution managed.
