KAGUYA (SELENE) MISSION OVERVIEW

KAGUYA is the most sophisticated moon exploration mission in the post-Apollo Era. The objectives of KAGUYA are global observation of the moon to research its origin and evolution, data acquisition for the research of the manned moon exploration and the moon utilization, fundamental technologies demonstration for the successive moon exploration and the public outreach by the High Definition TV (HDTV) movies. KAGUYA was launched on September 14, 2007. Since then, KAGUYA has already gathered enormous new scientific data. The fundamental technologies for the successive moon exploration have been demonstrated. In addition, the movies taken by HDTV have been highly appreciated in the world.
