Low cost fibrous catalytic porous ceramics from natural amorphous silica fibers (NASF) and alumino-silicate fibers were successfully produced. The one-step process to produce nickel catalytic filters is simple and efficient to reduce nickel oxide to metallic nickel, with subsequent sintering. Ni was found to be homogeneously distributed over the fibers in both ceramic materials. Permeability was in the range of fibrous filters with the same porosity and not altered with the presence of nickel inclusions.
