Donald L. Katz Award Response

Directors, Ladies and Gentlemen - I am very pleased to have been nominated for and to receive the Katz award from the GPA. Receipt of this award is a result of the work of many and I would like to acknowledge that fact. I started work with ASRL at the University of Calgary in 1981 and would like to thank of all my colleagues at Alberta Sulphur Research Ltd, (ASRL) for their diligent work over this long period. As you can imagine, working with high pressure sour gas in a laboratory and conducting experimental simulations of Claus sulphur recovery plants at temperatures exceeding 1200°C is a team exercise. Therefore this award recognizes the efforts of ASRL staff as much as it does my own work. Over a period of 45 years, ASRL has built up the knowledge and expertise to be able to tackle almost any research topic in the sulphur world. It has been my privilege to work with ASRL and have the support of the natural gas industry over my career.
