We study the problem of estimating the state of an uncertain process in a bandwidth constrained sensor network. A robust H∞ filtering method based on quantized sensor measurements is proposed for system with polytopic uncertainty. Motivated by the statistical theory of quantization, the effect of uniform quantization can be modeled by an additive noise that is uniformly distributed and uncorrelated with the input signal. By this approximation, we linearize the quantization operation and convert the filter design problem to a convex optimization problem which could be easily handled by LMI technique. It is also demonstrated, via an example, that the proposed method provides satisfied performance.
