ANTIMICROBIAL TREATMENTS ON CARPET: A FIELD STUDY

The carpet industry and their suppliers have noted a loss of the carpet market share in commercial settings such as schools and hospitals over the past several years. This has occurred most notably in the southeastern U.S. where humidity is high and environmental conditions support the growth of mold and mildew. It is thought that the loss in this market share is due to perceived relationships between an increase in illness, asthma and allergies associated with carpeted areas.
