A model was established to study the swing vibration of a horizontal cracked rotor with rigid supports by using numerical simulations and FFT. The simulated results suggest that the frequency components in the resonance of the swing vibration are same as those of the bending vibration, and the ratio amplitudes of these frequency components are similar between them. The mass eccentricity of rotor does not change the number of the frequency components. With decreasing rotating rate, there are some higher frequencies in the resonance of the bending vibration components. As the crack depth is decreased, the magnitude of every frequency is changed in the two vibrations, and the number of the frequency components in the resonance of the swing vibration is also changed. The results will be helpful in diagnosing the fault of the cracked rotors.
