The use of Best-Estimate (BE) codes withinthe reactor technology, either for design or safetypurposes, implies understanding and acceptingthe limitations and the deficiencies of thosecodes. Therefore, uncertainty statements mustsupplement the application of BE codes. TheCode with (the capability of) InternalAssessment of Uncertainty (CIAU) has beenproposed by the University of Pisa to realize theintegration between a qualified BE thermalhydraulicsystem code (RELAP5MOD3.2) and asuitable uncertainty methodology (UMAE) andto supply proper uncertainty bands each time aNuclear Power Plant (NPP) transient scenario iscalculated.
