A set of analytic control laws, suitable for use as on-board control algorithms for solar sail geocentric orbit transfer have been derived. These control laws allow for the locally optimal rate of change of any of the classical orbital elements. A guidance scheme is then developed to blend these individual steering laws and generate a near-optimal geocentric orbit transfer trajectory. The proposed guidance scheme is illustrated through trajectory calculations for the orbit-raising phase of the proposed GeoSail solar sail demonstration mission.
