HIGH PERFORMANCE POLYPROPYLENE COATING MATERIALS

Based on its advantageous material properties, polypropylene is an ideal candidate for extrusion coating, whenspecific requirements such as better grease resistance and higher service temperatures are required. So far,processability limitations of conventional PP related to low melt strength and low melt extensibility have restrictedthe use of PP. With the introduction of new technologies it is now possible to create PP materials showing uniquerheological behaviour by combining melt strength with significantly improved melt extensibility. This improvementin processability, in combination with new PP polymer types, allows the design of high performance PP coatingmaterials. New technologies and applications, resulting in the ideal combination of material and processingtechnology, are described.
