Au-Pd spherical particles in submicron size range were prepared using ultrasonic spray-pyrolysis method. HAuCl_4/H_2PdCl_6 solution dissolved in hydrochloric acid and Au(OH)_3/Pd(NO_3)_2 dissolved in nitric acid were used as starting solutions. The particles derived from HAuCl_4/H_2PdCl_6 solution had spherical morphology when the Au/Pd ratio is high. In low Au/Pd ratio, the particle morphology deformed gradually due to the influence of the thermal decomposition of H_2PdCl_6. Au(OH)_3/Pd(NO_3)_2 was unable to be atomized because of unstableness of the solution. In order to overcome this problem, Pd(NO_3)_2 solution was oxidized in advance with H_2O_2. As a result, the Au/Pd mix solution was stable and the spherical particles were obtained in optional Au/Pd ratio.
