Optical hybrid integration using a PLC platform leads to great progress in opto-electronic technology. Hybrid integration reduces costs of optical modules and also provides us with highly functional modules. Moreover, the platform will enable us to establish an OE multi-chip module which will be compatible with the electronic assembly hierarchy. This paper reviews the key technique and applications of optical hybrid integration using a PLC platform.
