Extraction of Simultaneous Fundamental Frequencies in Western Polyphonic Music

We present a procedure for extracting the fundamental frequencies (F0s) present in western polyphonic musical signals. This procedure is designed to ensure successful extraction of F0s corresponding to all permissible chords in western polyphonic music. In particular, it is designed to be able to handle cases where the F0 tone of a note may interact with harmonics of other notes during filterbank analysis of the musical waveform. A software implementation of the procedure has been used to validate its theoretically expected performance.
