DNA complexes with polycationic polymers have attracted much attention as a non-viral method for somatic gene therapy~1. The presence of counterions in the solvent (buffer) would effect the formation and stability of the complexes due to the polyelectrolyte nature of the interacting molecules, relevant for both the in vitro and in vivo properties of the complexes.
