Microvision, Inc. and US Army Aviation develop laser-scanning HMD

US Army Aviation is continuing its development of helmet-mounted visually coupled display (HMD) systems to improve dayight helicopter pilotage, weapons delivery, and mission rehearsal/in-flight replanning capabilities. The overall effort includes the establishment of display image source technologies to replace the venerable cathode-ray tube and improve the performance, safety, and utility of HMDs. Among the display technology developments sponsored is Microvision Inc.'s intensity-modulated, scanned laser beam approach.
