Biotechnology for young people - a challenge in the European Union

The European Commission's (EC) White Paper Growth, Competitiveness and Employment (1993) confirmed the crucial role and outstanding promise of biotechnology for sustaining development in the European Union (EU) in the net century. However, it also identified area for reinforcement to support the full realisation of this promise, among which were education, training and public understanding.
