Thousands of hours of laboratory testing of greaseless bushing have been performed over the past three plus years under a program initiated by the Corps of Engineers and carried out by Poertech Laboratories, in Surrey, B.C. Canada. The purpose of the tests was to determine bearing characteristics and performance with the intent to use them in oscillating-motion hydropower applications. Coefficients of friction and wear rates have been determined for both wet and dry operating conditions. A substantial database has been compiled which compares the performance of the various greaseless bushings with that of conventional greased or oiled bronze.
