This paper deals with materials design of various types of chopped fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) for evaluation and prediction of dynamic characteristics demanded for selection and evaluation as building materials in a given building element in a given building in a given environmental condition. Dynamic characteristics of four types of FRC reinforced with new fibers such as PAN-based high tension type and pitch-based general purpose type carbon fibers, aramid fiber and alkali-resistant glass fiber were exmined under various conditions in fiber content and aspect ratio by bending and tensile tests. Using there experimental data, prediction and evaluation methods of flexural and tensile strengths of various types of FRC are discussed based upon composite law, as a basis for establishing an expert system of materials design.
