In this paper, we discuss the analysis and simulation of a rectangular microstrip patch antenna on a single or two dielectric anisotropic substrates. The anisotropy under study is biaxial and the dielectric tensor may have nondiagonal elements which represent misalignment, on the surface, between the material coordinate system and the patch coordinate system. Among the great number of works carried out on microstrip antennas, few have taken the anisotropy of the substrates into account. Neglecting this anisotropy may cause important errors on antenna simulations.
