The paper studies a new approch to echo cancellation, refered to as adaptive reference echo cancellation (AREC) with memory structure. The new approch enables a far end signal not to disturb the adjustement of an echo canceler. Therefore an echo caceler may be adjusted with alarger step-size to cotain the smaller residual echo.AREC with memory structure is insensitive to nonlinearity, and it can be easy implemented with LSI. The author analyses the convergence porformance, and makes a computer simulation for the new approach. Both of results show that the new approach is in advance of convensional ones.
