Tension Control of Web Winding Systems for Speed-up Phase

To accomplish the winding tasks as soon as possible, the production speed should be adjusted during the operation. Aiming at the problem of tension control of speed-up phase for web winding systems, a robust control strategy is proposed to decrease the tension fluctuation. Firstly, the variation dynamic model for speed-up phase is built by Taylor expansion, and the equilibrium states and inputs are obtained at the same time. Next, the interval variables are introduced to denote the time-varying and uncertain parameters, based on which the web processing system is taken as an interval system and a robust controller is proposed subsequently. Sufficient conditions of the existence for proposed controller are obtained based on Lyapunov theory. Finally, the simulations are conducted to illustrate that the proposed method is effective and can improve the control precision.
