According to the multi-variable coupling nonlinear characteristics of the first principle model, the design scheme of the control system based on backstepping method is proposed for an air-breathing hypersonic vehicle. Through the curve fitting of thrust, aerodynamic forces, aerodynamic moment and generalized elastic forces, the first principle model is transformed into a control oriented model which meets the requirement of strict feedback affine form. Taking the flight velocity and altitude of the vehicle as the control object, some common robust controllers can be designed through this model conveniently.
