Opening parts such as window and door are weak points for the sound insulation of perimeter parts of buildings. Especially, sliding type window sash has a lot of spaces, and sound wave remarkably penetrates trough them. Such sound leakage looses the performance of sound insulation of the building wall. In this study, the sound penetration trough the glass plate and sound leakage of a small sliding type sample of window sash were observed using three-dimensional particle velocity sensor. Resonance sound penetrations with high peaks through peripheral spaces were clearly observed at many frequencies in the area higher than 1 kHz, and these dreadfully decreased the performances of sound insulation from the base of the mass low of glass part. Distribution maps of the sound strength on measured and analyzed sound penetrated through the glass and leaked trough the air gaps on the test window sash clearly show the weak points on the sound insulation of perimeter parts of buildings. Model calculation of sound propagation through the air gap on the meeting part of window sash can be corresponded to the analyzed frequency characteristics of leaked sound which has repeating high peaks and dips in frequency domain higher than 1000 Hz.
