A nanosecond silicon photonic 16×16 switch was built, to reduce power consumption of Petabit routers. Tested lightpaths had −33 dB crosstalk over 40 nm bandwidth, implementing a novel crosstalk-suppression architecture. A duplicate chip was built with SiN overpass crossings, which can further reduce crosstalk to −40dB.
