This paper presents a new rehabilitation machine with two cycling pedals for lower limbs. The mechanical structures are designed based on the clinical mechanism. The pedals of this machine are independently controlled by two motors in order to meet the rehabilitation requirements of different patients. Simultaneously, this machine has three training modes aiming to train different impaired limbs with different impaired levels and in different recovery periods. A test on the prototype is carried out and the surface electromyography (sEMG) of rectus femoris and the signals of force sensor are sampled. The results show that the independently controlled pedals move coordinately in three training modes and thus the prototype achieves the design goal.
