This paper investigates the performances of microstrip patch antennas printed on biaxial anisotropic substrates, suitable for wireless applications in the WLAN band. The influence of anisotropy on resonance order as well as on impedance matching and directivity is evaluated. Simulated results show that the antenna characteristics can be significantly improved by using biaxial anisotropic substrates. A third resonance was achieved with a good impedance matching and directivity.
