A Web Accessibility Study in Mobile Phone for the Aging People with Degradation of Vision

摘要

This paper discusses the inconvenient and unadaptable issues of current mobile device interfaces for the elderly people, especially compared to the desktop environment and resulted from their degraded eyesight. While there was little work in developing rules to guide the design and implementation of interfaces for the elderly people with age-related vision degeneration and their applications. A set of practical design guidelines of mobile device interfaces for the elderly people with degraded eyesight are proposed. The design of mobile device interfaces is a good starting point for the designers of mobile phone websites to effectively include the elderly people engaged in digital life. The paper highlights what mobile phone interface design with the limited sense of vision in manipulating the mobile devices can be relatively explored and proven and where future research may provide further advancements.
