The requirements for manufacturing tools are explored and related to mobile robot positioning systems in terms of flexibility and accuracy. The concept of the Laser Lighthouse featuring a single landmark beacon, is identified as the most flexible positioning system for deployment. Its positioning algorithm allows for positioning of a mobile robot in any pose and offers many clues for refinement.
