This paper describes a proposed physical layer in the implementation of a Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Radio system. Performance of the aforementioned system will be examined with i) a traditional receiver, ii) an MMSE receiver using the Least Mean Squares (LMS) and iii) an MMSE receiver using Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and are simulated using System View the block based simulation package. All three systems were simulated in five different channel scenarios. Results show that overall, in all five scenarios, the MMSE receiver using the RLS algorithm outperforms the other two receivers. It is also observed that in the extreme non-line-of-sight (NLOS) multipath channel all three receivers had poor performance.
