In this paper, the mechanism of fault diagnosis and fault warning is set up for a class of single-input single-output (SISO) nonlinear systems with actuator faults, and based on the established fault diagnosis mechanism, an adaptive fuzzy active fault-tolerant control (FTC) strategy is proposed. The considered actuator faults are bias and gain faults. The fault warning is constructed according to the identification error came from controlled system and fault diagnosis system. When the actuator faults occur, fuzzy logic systems are used to identified the unknown nonlinear function, and the adaptive control method and the symbolic function technique are employed to compensate the bias and gain faults, respectively. The stability of the closed-loop system is rigorously investigated. Finally, simulation results of a numerical example are presented to further demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed control strategy.
