This paper presents a novel isolated DC-DC converter with high efficiency by utilizing the proposed double full bridge double tapped inductor (DFBDTI) topology. PWM plus phase-shift modulation algorithm and dual-target control strategy are used in the converter to reduce switching loss and reactive power in the transformer when the output voltage fluctuates widely around its rated value. Thus, high efficiency of the converter is guaranteed under a wide output voltage range, which makes it suitable to be used in the DC wind turbine in series DC wind farms. The operating principle, performance analysis and control strategy of the converter are provided in this paper. A 200V 2kW converter prototype has been built and tested under a wide output voltage range, and the experimental results verify the theoretical analysis.
