The research presents a new approach to electrochemical machining (ECM) with use of the sectioned tool. The influence of various parameters of process with the motionless tool on dimensional accuracy and material removal rate (MRR) is investigated in the theory and in practical tests, in particular, the effects of temperature, gas generation, electrolyte flow velocity, electrical conductivity of electrolyte etc. The influence of flow velocity, current density and temperature of the electrolyte on the dissolution kinetics is determined. It is shown that such traditional methods of process optimization do not invariably product good processing results. Due to the complex nature of the optimization problem, these techniques are not ideal to solve these problems. Although ECM may attain high MRR and surface quality, but these are limited by the length of the processed surface along a line of a current of electrolyte. The performed research has shown the prospects of using themethod of serial processing by the sectioned tool at its movement along a processed surface for this purpose.
