In sugar factory, after clarification and evaporation, the extracted juice from the crushing mill is subjected to the crystallization process. Mass transfer and evaporation process are involved in the crystallization process. Vacuum keeps the temperature at low value for minimizing the formation of colour and sucrose inversion. In the present work, the heat exchanger system, deployed in crystallization process of sugar manufacturing industry, is considered and control system is designed for it. For control system design, Ziegler-Nichols (ZN), Internal model control (IMC) and Linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) tuning methods are adopted using MATLAB and finally their control performances are compared.
