An uninterruptible power supply is the most important part of the Data Center, linking between the main power supply and end sensitive load, to provide imperative protection against power disruptions. The main UPS preferred choices for protecting critical loads in Data Center are (Double Conversion Online UPS and Flywheel UPS system). But for the Data Center managers and operators selecting the right UPS for deployment can be a difficult proposition. Therefore this paper aims to provide a clearer understanding of key factors and considerations involved in selecting the right UPS system in terms of efficiency and cost. In order to clear these concerns a comparison made between Double Conversion Online UPS and Flywheel UPS system in a model of a medium size Data Center designed to provide 1500kW of cooling capacity to the Data Halls and hence support 1500kW of IT load. The electrical infrastructure topology to be adopted is ???N+1??? parallel redundancy configuration for each type of the UPS systems technologies.
