Coatings for the Prevention of Ice-Accretion and Insect Contamination -Approaches, Examples, and Limitations

Several test methods for ice formation and ice adhesion, as well as insect adhesion, are available and have been evaluated. For the development of anti-ice and anti-insect coatings, several approaches, utilizing very different phenomena, have been investigated. Prototype materials have been prepared and evaluated for their functionality and durability.
