In this study, we investigated the effect of the shock interaction on the attitude of the ballute. Experimental results in the hypersonic wind tunnel showed that when the shock interaction occurs near the ballute surface the unstable oscillation of the ballute is observed. This can be explained by the local high pressure region created through the shock interactions near the stagnation region of the ballute. To avoid this oscillation, the larger ballute could be helpful because the strong shock interaction will not occur near the surface and the shock from the capsule will be created inside the ballute.
