A Survey and a Comparative Study of Natural Disaster Taxonomies of Current Practice

摘要

This paper presents a survey and a comparative study of natural disaster taxonomies of current practice. Four taxonomies are studied and compared, including AIRS/211 LA County Taxonomy of Human Services, Disaster Category Classification and Peril Terminology for Operational Purposes, Peril Classification and Hazard Glossary, and Human Security Taxonomy. Taxonom-ic structure, subject coverage, and applied databases are compared and key findings are presented. The structure of a common, comprehensive taxonomy of natural disaster is proposed.
