Supplying a motor using a wind turbine is one of the most important issues in the field of renewable energy. Here, we introduce a three-phase, unity-power-factor converter as a solution to feed motors with a fixed-speed wind turbine. The converter consists of a Vienna rectifier and a three-level inverter linked together, and the converter can be thought of as a boost converter. We use hysteresis-based control to control the rectifier, and we use space vector pulse width modulation to control the inverter. We employ simulations to verify our theoretical results, and our findings show that the optimum switching frequency to ensure the best total harmonic distortion (THD) is 7 kHz. The minimum current and voltage THD are 0.28% and 25.37%, respectively.
