To investigate the influence of interface bonding condition on pavement deformation, flexible pavement was modeled in a finite element program (ABAQUS)and explicit dynamic analysis was conducted to identify the effects of interface bonding conditions to the pavement responses. At the same time, variance analysis was conducted to test the significance of the pavement layer interface bonding conditions to the pavement responses. Analysis results show that pavement layer interface bonding conditions have a significant influence on pavement deformation. The pavement responses were greatly influenced by the upper layers of the asphalt layers. The model results also show that the layer interface penalty coefficient of the pavement model that affects the interface bonding conditions has great influence on pavement deformation and that partial debonding between asphalt layers causes much greater strains and stresses at the bottom of the whole asphalt pavement.
