Polarisation singularities in photonic crystals for an on-chip spin-photon interface

摘要

We study the polarisation structure of the electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of a photonic crystal waveguide, and demonstrate that polarisation singularities are supported. Further, we study the effects of disorder and find that the polarisation singularities persist far beyond expected levels of disorder in a real waveguide, making them suitable for applications. Finally we discuss applications in quantum information, including the entanglement of spin states of electrons confined to quantum dot with optical path states in the photonic crystal waveguide.
