The Aircraft Senior Design Program at NCSU requires student teams to design, construct, ground test and flight test small UAS. In the past, teams were assigned and the customer requirements were published on the same day. For the 2013-2014 academic year the students were assigned to ten small three person groups. The groups were responsible for the conceptual design to develop a proposal for a small UAS. The groups competed for 3-4 funding slots for continued embodiment design, construction, ground and flight testing. It was expected that 3-4 students would form a Tiger Team to generate the conceptual design for a more complicated design.
