This research focuses on a system dynamics simulation of acute inflammatory response (AIR). AIR involves interaction between mediators, making the whole episode dramatically complicated and seemingly unpredictable. This project uses both system dynamics modeling and an agent based modeling approach. Both models are innovative and expand the state of the art by considering the effect of antibiotics as well as analysis at the tissue level. Thus, this research is designed to model and understand the evolution of AIR and expected to guide clinicians in a real clinical environment by using actual clinical data tailored to individual patient types.
