ANALYSIS OF WORK IN AN AMERICAN COFFEE SHOP IN HONDURAS

The purpose of this study was to conduct a human factors and ergonomics exploratory evaluation of anAmerican international coffee shop located in the developing country of Honduras. Task analysis andethnography techniques were utilized, observing and interviewing workers to determine basic tasks, taskperformance, and any issues encountered in the workplace. Analyses revealed aspects that may potentiallyaffect task performance including multitasking, overload, and environmental factors (e.g., lighting,workspace layout, and signage). Recommendations are then provided to enhance the interaction betweenworkers and coffee shop environments in the developing world.
