WELCOME FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIRS

As frequent participants and beneficiaries of the OMAE Conferences, we strongly felt that this premier event in the ocean and offshore area should take place at least once in Northern California. In the long history of OMAE, this conference would only be the second time it has been held in California, considering its proximity to the oceans. We were particularly excited when the OOAE Executive Committee accepted our proposal in 2010 to host OMAE2014 in San Francisco. As chair and co-chair, and Berkeley alumni, we team together to represent academia and the burgeoning ocean-energy industry. With little fanfare, renewed interest in the Oceans has been rising and marine renewable alternatives were not just on the horizon, but already reality.
