摘要

This paper highlights the innovative design accelerated construction, solutionssuccessfully implemented to address the construction challenges and alleviate the existing siteconstraints for the rehabilitation of the New York Avenue Bridge in Washington DC, locatednorth of the Union Station. The major rehabilitation items included the addition of thirdinterior (middle) girders to address redundancy concerns with the existing two-girder floorbeam-stringer grillage. In addition full-depth two-way post-tensions precast deck panels wereutilized to accommodate the 12ft-10in (max) cantilevers over the exterior girders.
