THE CONVERGENCE OF ITS AND TOLLING

Traditionally thought of as separate technologies and policy initiatives, Tolling and ITS are increasingly converging in many new Transportation facilities. In the 90s a divergence occurred between ETC and ITS for a variety of reasons.Information from ITS systems are becoming critical in the management of dynamically priced lanes which has many ramifications for traditional toll agencies including policy adaptations, and new technology expertise for design, operations and maintenance.
