In this paper, a new dual-winding fault-tolerant permanent magnet (DFPM) motor drive with three-phase fourleg inverter is proposed and investigated. The proposed DFPM motor drive with three-phase four-leg inverter offers the advantages of high power density, high efficiency, high utilization rate and high fault-tolerance. To achieve the fault-tolerant performance, a new fault-tolerant control strategy based on the open-circuit fault analysis and processing method is proposed and investigated. The proposed control strategy can realize the fault tolerant control of the open-circuit fault. Then, the operational performance of the DFPM motor drive under opencircuit fault condition has been verified by simulation and experiments. The research results verify the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed the DFPM motor drive with threephase four-leg inverter and fault tolerant control strategy.
